Walk in the Light
Walk in the Light of the Word
The Word guides our walk with our Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ, the Light of the world.
Psalm 119:105 (n)Nun “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” is a Word that has personal meaning for me. The Father used it to show me that I shouldn’t focus on what I need to accomplish, but just walk with Him every day, trusting in Him and His ability to make the impossible possible.
On ‘Samuel’s Mountain’ in Israel, as I literally had to drag the donkeys home up the mountain, at one point I felt I couldn’t take it anymore. Suddenly, I heard the Father in my Spirit saying, don’t look where you’re going, look at your feet, because my Word is a lamp to your feet.
From that day on, the challenge became a victory, which still serves as an incentive for us today as we remind ourselves that we should not look to ourselves and our inability but to the Father and His ability.
Today we are so inclined to direct our focus to where we need to go and then we stumble on the way there, because we take our eyes off the lamp that illuminates our daily walk.
To understand the full value of this Psalm, we must begin by knowing that this Psalm is divided into 22 parts that represent the Hebrews’ alphabet and that each letter of the alphabet has a numerical value but also a specific meaning.
Verses 105 to 112 are the “Num” letter of the Hebrews’ alphabet representing fifty with the following biblical context:
- The Jubilee, which took place every 50th year, was a time of great freedom and restoration for the Israelites. Jesus says, the truth sets us free and the Word is the truth.
- This involved the freedom for slaves, the return of ancestral lands to their original owners, and the cancellation of debts.
- It symbolizes a new beginning and a return to God’s original design for fellowship and righteousness and was fulfilled 50 days after the resurrection of Jesus Christ, with the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
Each Hebrew’s letter also has a specific meaning and in the case of “Num” it means the following:
- Seed, symbolizes the seed of the Word that falls in the Heart of man and bears fruit to the glory of God, this seed must be read in the context that Jesus is the Word that came to life and now also lives in us.
- Life, which reaffirms to us that Jesus, the Word and the Light of the world, has come to give us life and live in abundance. When we read, meditate, and live by the Word, the Word makes us alive.
- Activity, which points out to us that our lives walk, must bear fruit that is conformed to the Word of God, Jesus Christ.
Considering the above, it is necessary to realize that the lamp of the Word is a lamp for our feet so that we do not stumble and the Word is a light for our path, serving as a guide for the path we should walk. These two are not separate concepts and must be applied together. The Word of God must guide me in my walk with the Father, but must also serve as a lamp for every step I take, trusting in the Father.
Peter got out of the boat in full confidence that Jesus would let him walk on the water, but on the way he lost his focus, in that he did not take every step in the light (confidence) he received.
This typical action has a negative effect on us and our walk with the Father, allowing us to make negative judgments as we focus on our our own inability to be “successful”, while we need to keep our focus on God and His ability.
Every day now is a wonderful adventure (FAITH = Free Aventure In Trusting Him) because we don’t focus on what we need to accomplish, but we walk by faith as we place our trust in the Father with anticipation of His ability to make the impossible possible!
