Passover 2026

The Feast of Passover

Passover is the first of the three significant feasts Yahweh commanded the Israelites to keep according to Exodus 23:14-17 as a yearly reminder of God’s eternal plan for all mankind.

Passover started with the triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem on a donkey, the people hailed and recognized Him with an expectation that He will establish His Kingdom and deliver them from the Roman slavery.

Matthew 21:1-9

As they were approaching Yerushalayim, they came to Beit-Pagei on the Mount of Olives. Yeshua sent two talmidim 2 with these instructions: “Go into the village ahead of you, and you will immediately find a donkey tethered there with its colt. Untie them and bring them to me. 3 If anyone says anything to you, tell him, ‘The Lord needs them’; and he will let them go at once.” 4 This happened in order to fulfill what had been spoken through the prophet,
5 “Say to the daughter of Tziyon,
‘Look! Your King is coming to you,
riding humbly on a donkey,
and on a colt, the offspring of a beast of burden!’
6 So the talmidim went and did as Yeshua had directed them. 7 They brought the donkey and the colt and put their robes on them, and Yeshua sat on them. 8 Crowds of people carpeted the road with their clothing, while others cut branches from trees and spread them on the road. 9 The crowds ahead of him and behind shouted,
“Please! Deliver us!” (The meaning of Hosana is “save us” or “deliver us”)
to the Son of David;
“Blessed is he who comes in the name of ADONAI!”
“You in the highest heaven! Please! Deliver us!”

Jesus  however did not do what the people expected as the people recognized Him as King. Jesus came to cleanse the Temple, proclaiming that His Father’s House is called a House of prayer for all nations, thus declaring the purpose of the Temple as a place of worship. A place where we ought to thank God for His deliverance making it possible for us to enter into fellowship with Him and His Son Jesus Christ. God’s plan from before the foundation of the World,

When Jesus drove the money changers out of the Temple, He did it based on His love for His Father’s House for God said in Hosea 6:6 For I desire steadfast love and not sacrifice, the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings.

John 2:13-21

It was almost time for the festival of Pesach in Y’hudah, so Yeshua went up to Yerushalayim. In the Temple grounds he found those who were selling cattle, sheep and pigeons, and others who were sitting at tables exchanging money. 1He made a whip from cords and drove them all out of the Temple grounds, the sheep and cattle as well. He knocked over the money-changers’ tables, scattering their coins; 1and to the pigeon-sellers he said, “Get these things out of here! How dare you turn my Father’s house into a market?” (His talmidim later recalled that the Tanakh says, “Zeal for your house will devour me.”) So the Judeans confronted him by asking him, “What miraculous sign can you show us to prove you have the right to do all this?” Yeshua answered them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up again.” The Judeans said, “It took 46 years to build this Temple, and you’re going to raise it in three days?” 2But the “temple” he had spoken of was his body.

We as the Body of Christ is the Temple of God that Jesus came to cleanse from all impurities, so that we can worship the Father in Spirit and in Truth. The question however remains, are we as zealous for our Fathers House as Jesus. If not, Jesus reminded us through the fig tree, which had no fruit, showing only false evidence, which is doing things or saying things to be seen. This is not what the Lord requires. He then used the example of a poor widow to demonstrate what is required from us. Giving not out of the abundance of wealth but the abundance of a heart wholly yielded unto Him. The widow gave what she had with nothing to spare, while those who gave much, gave out of what they had to spare. Just as it is required in Mark 12:30 “and you are to love ADONAI your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your understanding and with all your strength.”

We however need to ask ourselves, are our hearts prepared for the King to take dominion of His Kingdom within us. The cleansing of the Temple demonstrated that God’s Temple should be dedicated to Him from within, based on the purpose of the Temple and not the grandeur thereof. It does not matter how it looks on the outside, wat matters is the inside.

Through the Passover feast Jesus came to establish His Kingdom and to deliver us from slavery. As in the time of Moses, a shadow of the reality which is Christ Jesus. Thus Jesus came to cleanse the Temple acknowledging that we are the Temple of God, He demonstrated that we must be prepared to receive our deliverance and to make a place for Him as King in our lives and hearts as an expression of our love.

 THE PASSOVER MEAL

The Passover meal is the banner of love through which we enter, the love of Jesus as He said in Luke 22:15-20  Jesus said to them, “I’ve had a deep desire to eat this Passover with you before I suffer. I can guarantee that I won’t eat it again until it finds its fulfilment in the kingdom of God.” Then he took a cup and spoke a prayer of thanksgiving. He said, “Take this, and share it. I can guarantee that from now on I won’t drink this wine until the kingdom of God comes.” Then Jesus took bread and spoke a prayer of thanksgiving. He broke the bread, gave it to them, and said, “This is my body, which is given up for you. Do this to remember me.” When supper was over, he did the same with the cup. He said, “This cup that is poured out for you is the new promise made with my blood.”

The four cups used during Passover meal represented God’s promises to Moses and Israel and is FULFILLED through His Son Jesus Christ to all who believe in Jesus as the Son of the Living God.

Therefore, say to the Israelites: ‘I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians (first cup). I will free you from being slaves to them (second cup), and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with mighty acts of judgment (third cup, the cup after the meal. Jesus said came in fulfilment through His blood, we are redeemed by His blood). I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God (Last cup, Jesus said in Matthew that He will not drink until He will drink new wine with you in His Father’s Kingdom) Then you will know that I am the LORD your God, who brought you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians.” (Exodus 6:6-7)

The Passover meal (communion) is not just a reminder of what Jesus did for us it is the banner that is over us and the hope of being re-united alive with Him in our Fathers Kingdom. Communion is like a picture of a loved one that you keep close to you heart with a longing to be re-united again. Once the unity is a reality the picture loses its value as such.

MAY THE LORD BLESS YOU THIS PASSOVER

Father God we pray for the Body of Christ as we celebrate YOUR ABUNDANT LOVE THROUGH THE SACRIFICE OF YOUR BELOVED SON our LORD AND SAVIOUR. We pray for YOUR LOVE to manifest in and through us as the Body of Christ, demonstrating and living the love You bestowed on us so that YOUR KINGDOM CAN MANIFEST ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN.

Father God we ask that you give us, as the Body of Christ, grace to keep our eyes focused on YOU and guard our FIRST LOVE, our relationship with YOU and Your Son Jesus Christ. That we will guard and keep our heart from the world and their standards so that the LIFE OF CHRIST JESUS CAN FLOW FROM OUR HEART TO A LOST WORLD!

We pray for every gathering, service and outreach in this time of celebrating our deliverance through the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. Father we ask for a great harvest of souls as YOU prepare the hearts of people, bless the seed of Your Word and send your angels to minister to the lost.(Ps103verse20)

This all we ask in the precious Name of Yeshua Ha Meschiach, Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour!
