Consider Jesus

Mark 6:51-52

And he got into the boat with them, and the wind ceased. And they were utterly astounded, for they did not understand about the loaves, but their hearts were hardened.

In asking the question, “what did the disciples not understand concerning the feeding of the 5000”, we should consider what happened.

One day, during the showing of the Jesus film, I realized for the first time what Jesus wanted to teach us concerning the feeding of the 5000. I realized that faith and trust was the basis of the teaching, preparing us to trust in Him and to rely not on our own inability but to trust in His ability.

During the film Jesus asked the disciples in Mark 6:38. “And the One says to them, “How many loaves do you have? Go, see!” And having come-to-know, they say “Five, and two fish”.

I realized that Jesus was not concerned about what they or we have, His concern was that the disciples and us likewise will be willing to place our trust in Him with what we have. The bible in Hebrew 11:3 By faith we understand that the worlds have been prepared by the word of God, so that the thing being seen has not come-into-being from things being visible.

Jesus taught us that if we consider Him and His ability, we need not to consider our own inability. In Christ Jesus, the question is not if we have enough, the question is are we willing to place whatever we have in His hand to be used for His glory. The widow in 1Kings 17:3-5 “Elijah said to her, “Don’t be afraid. Go and do as you have said; but make me of it a little cake first, and bring it out to me, and afterwards make some for you and for your son. For thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel, ‘The jar of meal shall not empty, neither shall the jar of oil fail, until the day that Yahweh sends rain on the earth.’” She went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, ate many days
